Many of the guitar series were produced in limited quantities. The Clipper Six series was designed by Mark Ray of the United Kingdom.

Louis Music announced that it would be merging Westone with their Electra brand (which was introduced back in 1971). Matsumoku guitars are generally well-built, solid playing guitars that featured innovative design ideas. Westone guitars were originally marketed in the U.K. In 1981, Matsumoku decided to market their own original designs under their own trademark in addition to their current production for others. It's a 1987 Japanese Westone Pantera X350MA in original case. It sold for around 1,100 in 1987 which is about 2,700 in today's money. This is probably the nicest guitar I've ever owned and I've owned a lot.

The Matsumoku company of Japan had been manufacturing guitars for other trademarks (such as Aria, Epiphone, and Vantage) since the 1960s. This is the holy grail of Westone guitars with only 48 ever made. Instruments previously produced in Japan between the late 1970s and 1987, Korea between 19, and 19, and England between 19. These new Epiphones were based on existing Matsumoku guitars, sharing body shapes, and hardware, but the Epiphone line. The only model listed there is the Spectrum ST, $400 for a mint condition model. Does anybody have any intel on these instruments? I know nothing about Westone guitars and went to wikipedia in search for details. This was my first guitar that I bought with my hard earned busboy money back in the fall of 1985. I decided to thin the herd and sell my 1985 Westone Spectrum FX.
